Message from Lodge President, Nicolette Sciscilo:

Cari amici, here is a quick update on upcoming IHL events.

Saturday, October 20th - Please help me welcome our very special guests on Saturday evening - - Bob and Beverly Amante (GLVA President and First Lady), and Jim and Terry DeLucia are traveling up from Peninsula Italian-American Lodge. Jim is the President of PIAL and Bob, Bev and Terry will assist him in selling Italian-themed merchandise that will be on display for the evening and gives all of us the opportunity for pre-season shopping. Saturday evening's meeting will be pot luck so please bring your best autumn entrée or dessert that incorporates the foods of the season. There will be hot apple cider, a caramel apple bar and other seasonal delights.   Also, a Holloween Costume Contest!!

This is also a great time to begin collecting food for the House of Mercy Food Pantry.  We will have another opportunity to contribute at our November pizza and movie night.  All of the food collected will be taken to the House of Mercy Food Pantry in Manassas before Thanksgiving.  Please bring any item that is either packaged, canned, or boxed.

November 10th - AM - Walk-A-thon at Fair Oaks Mall with lunch at Sushi On.

November 10th - PM - Pizza and Movie Night - This year's featured movie will be "Under the Tuscan Sun".  Pizza will be provided by Paisano's!

December 15th - PM- Festa di Natale! Our annual Christmas party, with a long awaited visit from Santa, is so special and enjoyed by all members - young and old - so put this date on your calendars if you have not done so yet and also look for the flyer in the November Newsletter.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions.

Con affetto,

If you are missing recent lodge general membership meetings this fall, you missed some terrific events like August's peach picking and September's “Meet and Greet” Spaghetti Dinner with guest speaker, Professor Emeritus and author, Signore Carmine Vittoria, who helped us imagine is life as an Italian youngster living in the mountains off mostly palenta and an occasional loaf of bread from occupying forces during World War II. You can still purchase a copy of his book, Bitter Chicory to Sweet Espresso, at
